Camera obscura is an invention of the 16th century that projects its surroundings onto a screen inorder to make it easier to copy something and make it more realistic/accurate. It was mainly used to accurately draw a graphical perspective and is the beginning of the camera. Similarly, both are copying what is being seen yet a camera is night a day faster. The camera obscura, one has to make the photo where as a camera captures it and makes the copy for you making it as accurate as possible. A variation of camera obscura is still used today in graphic design. Designers take pictures and upload it to an Adobe application where they use the pen tool to trace the picture and create a design to mirror it or be similar to its form. Another tool that can be used in Adobe is the mesh tool and stamp tool that are different ways of accurately copying an image. The idea of the camera obscura is still used today with graphic design and was the stepping stone to current day photography. They both help creators do other things with their original design with camera obscura was just there to make there images bigger for others to see around them. On the other hand graphic design can take the original post, manipulate it, and turn it into art for others to see around the world in today's society.
