The Starbucks Logo and Greek Alphabet

The Starbucks Logo and Greek Alphabet

Starbucks is a world famous coffee shop that is known for its tasty drinks and quick service. Although it is not a Greek inspired restaurant, their popular logo is indeed. Logo have been around just as long as the Greek alphabet as well as Greeks using certain markings on pottery to show who made the piece. That is basically branding. Before Starbucks was Starbucks, they were Il Giornale, and used the Roman God of Mercury, who represents speed, which is what their main concept for their service was. Starbucks came about because of Starbuck in the book Moby Dick, and it shows a mermaid with 2 tails that is using her seductiveness to get customers to drink their coffee. I am sure that is why men go to Starbucks right? Just like the Greek Gods having meanings, so does each Greek letter in the alphabet. Greek history is still used today just as seen with the Starbucks logo but also in sororities and fraternities using the Greek alphabet. These two things share similarities in that aspect as well due to them being involved in popular culture. College students especially in today’s society are well known for their love of starbucks and a lot of them participate in what they call “greek” life. Just another way how the greek alphabet is still prevalent today along with how much more popular starbucks is getting in today's society.
